2007 News
26 November 2007: The Invisible Kings section of the website has been reorganized. Each Domain now has its own page (accessible via a sub-menu of the main Invisible Kings menu item on the left-hand side of the page). Existing content has mostly been migrated over, and new content is now in the process of being uploaded (including all IK premieres to date) so please bear with us for a brief period of time while we get everything cleaned up and working properly.
19 November 2007: The Gen Con Indy Dungeon Delve, LA-SP5-13 Expedition to Goram'Zob by James Zwiers, is now available for home play. You can download it from the Year Five Adventures page.
24 October 2007: The first two Gen Con Indy premiere adventures, LA-SP5-11 Flowering of the Blood Vine and LA-SP5-12 Blood Calls to Blood, are now available for home play. You can download them from the Year Five Adventures page. These adventures continue a long-running series, so it's recommended that you play these two adventures in order, and that you play Emergence of the Spurned (Year 3) and Under a Dying Sun (Year 4) before playing these adventures.
22 October 2007: The final Origins premiere adventure, LA-HP4-06 The Sacrifice of Generations, has been released in a two-round continuous-play version. You can download it from the Year Four Adventures page.
24 August 2007: Couple of administrative items today. First, we have updated the standard Marketplace Guide to include items from Forged in Magic: Revised and Expanded. If you are running a convention and you have been approved for a Marketplace, you'll want to download the new version from the Marketplace page. (The blank Marketplace certs have not changed, so if you already printed a bunch of those, don't worry -- they are still good.)
Second, if you played the special "preview" of the adventure Shadows of a Forsaken Past at Origins 2006, your version of the "Favor of Quentac" cert is incorrect. Please visit the Print Products page to download the corrected version of this certificate. If you purchased the adventure online at any point in 2007 then you do NOT need this download as you already have the corrected version.
17 August 2007: Slightly better versions of the standard logsheets (now including a place to track Lifetime XP as per the rules in the LARC) have been uploaded to the Characters page.
17 August 2007: LA-HP4-05 The Deadliest Prey (by Henry Lopez) is now available to everyone. This is the first of the two Hard Points that premiered at Origins 2007. You can grab it from the Year 4 Adventures page.
09 August 2007: The original version of the August Rules Update that was posted on 07 August had a couple of mistakes in it. The footer wasn't updated, so the document still claimed that it was a draft instead of the final version. To avoid any ambiguity, this has been fixed and a new version has been posted.
Also, the effective date for the new GM rewards said that it was 01 August, but that was an artifact of an earlier draft. The wording should be consistent throughout the entire Rules Update, so this was updated to say 15 August 2007 as well. Nevertheless, to avoid penalizing GMs of Gen Con Indy slot zeroes, it is permissible to claim the new rewards if you eat an adventure between 01 August and 15 August 2007. It is not permissible to claim the new rewards for anything that happened prior to 01 August 2007. Sorry for any confusion and inconvenience!
07 August 2007: Just in time for Gen Con Indy, the LIVING ARCANIS August 2007 Rules Update is now available from the Campaign Rules page. Please review the update and let us know (by posting in the PCI forums, posting on our Yahoo! Groups, or sending us an e-mail) if you have any questions. This update becomes mandatory for all characters on 15 August 2007, but you may start using it immediately if you prefer.
07 August 2007: LA-SP5-09 Emissaries is now available from the Year 5 Adventures page. This completes the release of the Origins Soft Points. The Origins Hard Points should be available in the next couple of days.
28 July 2007: For those who are curious, we have updated the Year 5 Soft Point release schedule to include details about the scnearios that have not yet premiered, up through LA-SP5-16. (Details on SP5-17 through SP5-20 will be added a bit later in the year.) You can check it out on the Year 5 Adventures page. Note for those attending Gen Con UK or Gen Con Indy -- the scenario codes listed on the convention website are incorrect (because we screwed up the numbering). However, the names, schedules, and order in which the scenarios are to be played are all correct, so this should not cause any issues for anybody. To be clear, however, we have updated our Gen Con page with the correct scenario codes. We apologize for any confusion this might have caused anyone.
26 July 2007: Two of the five Origins 2007 premiere adventures have now been released for general play. The Dungeon Delve, LA-SP5-10 Trembling of an Ancient Web by James Zwiers, and the high-level Soft Point, LA-SP5-08 Xenophobia by M. Sean Molley, are now available for download from the Year 5 Adventures page.
26 July 2007: We are in the process of finalizing and releasing the Soft Points and Hard Points that premiered at Origins 2007. We are also making some changes to the layout and navigation of this website (hopefully making things easier to find). The Origins 2007 Soft Points will be found on the Year 5 Adventures page. The Origins 2007 Hard Points will be found on the Year 4 Adventures page. Core Intro adventures are found on the main Adventures page. Invisible Kings Intro adventures are found on the Invisible Kings page. In the near future we will also have a single page that is just a list of all currently-playable adventures (no blurbs) in order to make it easy to check and see if you have copies of all the scenarios.
18 July 2007: For those who purchased the Year 1 adventure compilation (Year of Ill Harvest) from the PCI booth at Origins, the certificate file is now available for download. This file can only be used with the Year of Ill Harvest book -- it is not approved for use with the old RPGA versions of the Year 1 adventures, because the book updates all the adventures to v3.5 of the core rules and adds additional material. For those who weren't able to get the book at Origins, PCI will have plenty of copies at Gen Con Indy and you should see the product in your FLGS by early September. The PDF version is expected to go on sale in October. Please see the print products page for more information. (UPDATE: There was a slight layout error in one of the certificates that we originally uploaded. If you downloaded v1.0 of the cert file, please download the new v1.0.1 instead. Sorry about that!)
18 July 2007: Thanks to everyone who helped make "The Gathering" at Origins 2007 a huge success! We had our biggest convention ever for LIVING ARCANIS, including the largest LARP and BI the campaign has ever seen. We now turn our attention to Gen Con Indy 2007 which is only a few short weeks away!
06 June 2007: It's a Metra Trifecta! (Note: don't blame the Metra IKs for that joke, blame the campaign coordinator.)
The three "Weekend in Metra" adventures are now available for general play. Each adventure is one round, Standard, and targeted to lower APLs. The adventures are LA-IK-MET-01-02 Shed Light, Shed Blood; LA-IK-MET-01-03 The Doom that Came to Eppion; and LA-IK-MET-01-04 In All Their Sable Majesty. You can download all three adventures from the Invisible Kings page.
24 May 2007, Take 2: The first Invisible Kings - Paldaris adventure, Breeding, is now available for download from the Invisible Kings page. The Paldaris Domain Description Document should be available in the very near future.
Also, ticket sales for Origins 2007 have started, and as usual the LIVING ARCANIS events are selling out fast. Head over to www.originsgames.com to buy your badge and tickets. Event sales for Gen Con Indy 2007 are going on as well, so head on over to www.gencon.com to buy your badge and tickets for that convention too!
24 May 2007: The first Invisible Kings - Atria adventure, Still Waters Run Deep, is now available for download, as is the Atria Domain Description Document.
28 April 2007: Paradigm Concepts is pleased to announce its schedule of premiere LIVING ARCANIS events at Gen Con Indianapolis 2007. Click here for all the details!
04 April 2007: LA-IK-COL-01-01 They Dance Alone, an Introductory adventure for the IK Domain of Lustia (The City of Leaves, Duchy of Sylvania, Milandir) is now available, along with the Lustia Domain Description Document. Both may be downloaded from the Invisible Kings page.
03 April 2007: We have had a huge batch of Invisible Kings adventures premiere over the last two months. And now it's time for them to start becoming available for home play! The first Midake adventure (and their designated Introductory module), LA-IK-MID-01-01 A Trickle-Down Deal , is now available from the IK download page.
28 February 2007: Many, but not all, of the previously-retired Year 3 Anchor Point and Soft Point adventures have been added to a new sub-menu of the "Adventures" tab. These adventures are officially "un-retired" and may be played by anyone who did not get the chance to play them before their retirement.
The campaign staff is looking at adding more of the older adventures to the "evergreen" category, but for now, regardless of their campaign year or release date, only adventures that are available from this website are sanctioned and legal for general play in the LIVING ARCANIS campaign. We also reserve the right to retire some or all of the older adventures again after a certain point in time. For example, we may choose to retire all of the Year 3 adventures again once Year 6 begins. We will give notice on this website before retiring any adventures, however, so be sure to watch this space for details.
27 February 2007: All of the currently-available Year 2 and Year 3 LIVING ARCANIS: Nishanpur adventures have been added to a new sub-menu of the "Adventures" tab.
26 February 2007: The website is undergoing some structural changes as we migrate adventures over from the RPGA website. For now, you can find Year 5 and Introductory adventures by clicking on the "Adventures" tab, and you can find Year 4 adventures by clicking on the "Year 4" submenu beneath the "Adventures" tab. This is only a temporary measure to ensure that people can download the adventure files; a much better overall site design is in the works. Year 3 adventures should be available from their own page shortly. Invisible Kings adventures are all still found by clicking on the "Invisible Kings" tab.
LA-SP5-04 He Who Conquers Himself by Soren Smith may now be downloaded from the "Adventures" page. (We apologize for the delay in getting this adventure uploaded after its release was announced.)
08 February 2007: The LIVING ARCANIS mega-adventure LA-AP4-03 Shadows of a Forsaken Past by James Zwiers is now available from RPGNow. The product download contains the adventure file, handouts, and cert files. The maps are available as a free web enhancement from this website (click on the "Print Products" tab for details). You can visit the product page on RPGNow by clicking on this link.
08 February 2007: The Enpebyn adventure LA-IK-ENP-01-02 Upon a Troubled Brow has been removed from active play. This adventure is no longer sanctioned for LIVING ARCANIS and should not be run at any convention, game day, retail game, or home game. The scenario may be re-released at a future date after some needed changes have been made. We apologize to those players and convention organizers who have had less-than-positive experiences with this adventure.
07 February 2007: The Invisible Kings adventure LA-IK-OCR-01-02 To Craft the Vaults of Hell has been updated (to v1.1). Please download the updated versionm if you have an older version. The changes were made to decrease the lethality of certain lower-APL combat encounters. No certs were changed, but the cert file was incremented to v1.1 in order to be consistent with the adventure version number.
31 January 2007: Two new Invisible Kings adventures are now available for general play: LA-IK-EMS-01-01 The Long Shadow, an Introductory adventure for the Emerald Society, and LA-IK-OCR-01-02 To Craft the Vaults of Hell, a Crawl adventure set in Old Coryan. Visit the "Invisible Kings" section of the website for details and downloads.
24 January 2007: A new "Print Products" page has been added to the site (see the navigation bar at the top of the page). The existing adaptations for City of Secrets, Bloody Sands of Sicaris, and Carnival of Swords are available, along with the map file for the mega-adventure LA-AP4-03 Shadows of a Forsaken Past.
19 January 2007: All of the IK Domain Description Documents that have been released as part of adventure packages are now also available as individual downloads. Click on the "Invisible Kings" tab at the top of the page for details.
08 January 2007: The first Old Coryan Invisible Kings adventure, LA-IK-OCR-01-01 To Cast Shadows on the Sun, is now available to everyone.
01 January 2007: Happy New Year! Old news from 2006 has been archived and moved to the "Old News" page.
2006 News
22 December 2006: Updates to the Invisible Kings release schedule -- we've added a third new adventure for January 2007 release and two adventures for February 2007 in addition to the three new adventures already scheduled for December 2006. Click on the "Invisible Kings" tab at the top of the page to see the release schedule and download all the currently-available IK materials.
13 December 2006: Ian Richards, RPGA Program Manager, has posted a message about the departure of Living Arcanis from the RPGA. You can read Ian's message (which includes some very kind words and a bit more explanation of the business reasons behind the RPGA's decision) by clicking on this link.
09 December 2006: A new FAQ has been added to the "Announcement" page explaining that until such time as the campaign staff decides (and announces) otherwise, all current campaign rules (including RPGA table-size rules) remain in effect. Please do not start making up your own rules to replace RPGA rules. We need to maintain a consistent and predictable play environment while we are sorting out all of the issues that arise as a result of our departure from the RPGA.
08 December 2006: Henry Lopez, President of Paradigm Concepts, has made an important announcement concerning the future of Living Arcanis and its relationship with the RPGA. Please click on the "Announcement" tab at the top of the page to read the full announcement as well as get answers to frequently asked questions.
22 November 2006: The first module from the IK domain of Metra (in the Western Lands) has been released! Click on the "Invisible Kings" tab at the top of the page for a download of Decadence & Discipline, an Introductory adventure by Joe Cirillo.
18 November 2006: There were a couple of typos and one copy-paste error in the v10 cert file for LA-SP5-05 To Spin an Ancient Web. The adventure download has been updated to v10b and the cert file is now v11. The errors should not affect gameplay but if you have previously downloaded LA-SP5-05 you should download it again from the "Adventures" page in order to get the corrected cert file. Sorry for the inconvenience!
12 November 2006: LA-SP5-05 To Spin an Ancient Web by James Zwiers is now available. Click on the "Adventures" tab at the top of the page for a download! Also, check the "Invisible Kings" page for an update to the IK adventure release schedule.
20 October 2006: LA-SP5-03 Veiled Truths by Casey McGirt is now available.
10 October 2006: The first two Invisible Kings modules from the Domain of Enpebyn (one Intro mod and one for APLs 5-17) have been released. Click on the "Invisible Kings" tab at the top of the page for downloads of these two adventures!
22 September 2006: The two Soft Points from Gen Con Indy 2006 (LA-SP5-01 and LA-SP5-02) are now available for download from this site. These are the Gen Con premiere versions, so they are still missing some post-premiere edits, but a lot of conventions and game days need access to these files so we are releasing them as-is. They worked fine for our judges at Gen Con so they will work fine for you too. However, if you have any questions, please contact the campaign staff. The Gen Con Battle Interactive (which is basically Part 3 of the series that begins with these two Soft Points) will be released in a version suitable for home play, but we do not (as of December 2006) have an estimate for when that will occur.
31 August 2006: The three Hard Points from Origins 2006 are now available for download from this site. Click on the "Adventures" tab at the top of the page. If you have previously received these adventures from Matt Blank or Sean Molley, you should download them again, as there have been a few minor changes and we've added the "onsite addenda" that was given to the judges at Origins. The stat blocks for HP4-03 have also been updated to fix some errors.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Characters that play LA-HP4-01 must play LA-HP4-02 as their next adventure. This is not made terribly clear in the blurbs but it is the case -- you cannot play anything else after playing HP4-01 until you play HP4-02. There is no such restriction between HP4-02 and HP4-03 (although most parties will want to stay together and complete the series). We strongly recommend that if you are planning to offer HP4-01 as part of a convention that you also offer HP4-02 and that you schedule these events back-to-back. Thinking of HP4-01 and HP4-02 as a single continuous-play two-round event would not be a bad way to approach this problem.
22 August 2006: LA-Intro-02 "One Night in Coryan" and LA-SP4-11 "Stream of Consciousness" are now available for download. If you previously received these adventures from Sean Molley or Matt Blank then there is no need for you to download them again. They are still missing a couple of elements (player handouts) but a GM who is familiar with current events in the campaign can summarize that information for the players with no problem. I still plan to finalize these events in the future but to make it easier on people who are getting the RPGA "placeholder" file I decided to go ahead and upload the current versions.
01 August 2006: LA-Intro-03 "Duty and Justice" and LA-SP4-19 "Where the Ghost of Legend Lies" are now available for download. These adventures premiered at Origins 2006 and are now available for general play.
